When You Visit
We want your first experience at Genesis to be enjoyable, comfortable and stress free. Here’s what you need to know:
- The main entrance faces Virginia Parkway, (sometimes referred to as our south entrance).
- Guest parking is conveniently available on the east side of the building, it’s clearly marked and easy to find. Upon entering the building, you’ll enter the mallway. This is the major corridor that runs the length of the building.
- The Welcome Center for guests is directly to the left as you enter. Nurseries, restrooms, children’s ministries and child check-in will be on the right.
- Usually there is a coffee/refreshment bar in the mallway and on special occasions there are designated areas for selfies, family photos, guest speaker materials, Life Group sign ups and other fun stuff.
FAQ
If you have children in 6th grade or younger, we ask that you use the Planning Center Check-In device or app before dropping your kids off for their service. This information is important because only the parent/guardian can drop off and pick up the child. Each child will receive a security tag that is placed on their clothing and shows their name and a corresponding number that matches a tag given to the adult who checks them into our care. Parents/Guardians can use an advanced check-in feature by downloading the Planning Center App.
Seasonal dress is common at Genesis. Most people dress casual or business casual. The Worship Center temperature is set between 68-70 degrees so there are a few people who bring a light jacket. No one is judged by what they wear, we just ask everyone value modesty and feel comfortable. Most people stand during the worship/music portion of the service so comfortable shoes are always beneficial.
Any lost item will most likely be turned into our Church office. The item can be retrieved during regular office hours, M-Th from 9 AM to 4 PM. Notify us about a lost item at the Welcome/Guest Center or call the office.
There is specific parking for guests, expectant mothers and people with disabilities.
Our restrooms are well lit, spacious and assigned by birth-gender. There is a separate family/disability restroom for greater privacy. All restrooms are equipped with a baby changing station and the GenKids Jr. areas (infant-PreK) are equipped with a restroom attached to the classroom.
Genesis Church employs a uniformed police officer from the McKinney Police Department every week for the benefit of all attendees. Genesis also has a privately trained security team that provides additional support and service.
Service is scheduled for 70-75 minutes. Service features worship/singing for about 20 minutes, Bible teaching/preaching for 35-40 minutes, offering and individual prayer time at the end, 10-15 minutes. Some Sundays include special guests or presentations. If you need to leave early, feel free to sit closer to the back for easy exiting. Theatrical lighting, sound and production elements are used in the service. Each service is broadcast live and recorded for various media platforms.
